Important Updates

A two-day international seminar, organized by the departments of History and Chemistry, Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabar, in Jorhat district, in collaboration with the Assam College Teachers Association (ACTA) was held recently. The seminar, sponsored by the Indian Council of Social Science Research (New Delhi, was on the topic "Environmental Issues and Sustainable Development: The Global and Indian Perspective'.

Professor Mallika Rani Pinnawala, Professor of Sociology. University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka, who was the chief guest and the keynote speaker, in her speech, highlighted the "Triple planetary crises in 2024: climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss. Pinnawala stated that at present humanity was facing a "triple planetary crisis that threatens the well-being and survival of millions of people around the world".

Prof Rajendra Joshi from the School of Science, Kathmandu t University, Dhulikhel, Nepal, who was one of the resource persons in the seminar, delivered his talk on 'Optimizing Nitrogen Management in South Asia: Challenges, Solutions and Integration with SDGs.

Prof Ravindra Chandrasiri Pallyaguruge, Department of -Political Science, Sabaragamua University, Sri Lanka, another resource person, delivered his presentation highlighting 'Gaia Peace: A New Paradigm of Environmental Resilience'.
