The Department of Botany has been at the forefront of plant science teaching since its inception in 1970. Since then, the Department has been actively associated to impart quality knowledge and education to the young and ignited minds of the region. Faculty members are experts in teaching different disciplines of plant sciences such as Taxonomy, Immunology, Cell Biology, Genetics, Physiology, Morphology, Anatomy, Reproduction, Ecology, and Evolution, among others. In addition, applied plant science disciplines such as Plant Pathology, Plant Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Bioinformatics, and Bioinstrumentation are also included in the course curriculum. The Department provides state-of-art facilities for practicals and science projects, and science seminars to improve their experimental learning and skills, shaping them for their future research careers. Department has experienced sufficient growth in the domains of active research and development. Several reputed Indian funding agencies, such as UGC-NERO, DBT, and national research awards have provided esteemed recognition to the faculty members of the Department in basic and applied fields of plant sciences. In the field of plant sciences, the Department has hosted a number of popular talks, workshops, seminars, public speeches, training programs, and other events. Several skill development programs and school-level workshops/training are organized at regular intervals in collaboration with the college's DBT-HUB.
