The department of Economics was established in the year 1959 and the Major classes commenced from 1983 under the stewardship of Sri J.C.Bhagawati, Principal and Head of the Department of Economics.The Department hosts various programmes and seminars related to the diverse field of Economics.And is also involved in various extension activities like conducting awareness camps in the villages near the college. The Faculty members as well as the Retired Faculty are actively involved in all the departmental activities.
