The Department of history started its journey per se along with the college  from the year 1959. The Department of History as a separate discipline on one hand provided stimulus to the growth of the college vis a vis contributed to develop historical consiousness in the society as a whole. The Department reached the zenith of success under the able guidance and supervision of highly qualified and most talented academicians of the time. The department has a academic platform named "Historical Society" which organizes out of the box learning through National Seminars and other programmes.  The department of History provides the students with an ideal academic environment that is enriched by a group of well qualified and experienced teaching faculty members. The department has its own library and computer facility for the convenience of the students as well as the faculty. The classrooms are well equipped with audio-visual aids and the faculty members use it quite often while teaching.
