Co-relating with the theme of World Environment Day, 2021 “Ecosystem Restoration ” a webinar was organized by the Zoology Department in association with the Zoological Society of Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabor on the 5th of June, 2021. It was addressed by speakers, Bitupan Baruah, PhD Research Scholar from Wildlife Institute of India , Dehradun on the topic “Wetland Restoration with emphasis on ampbhibians and reptiles” and by Abhijeet Konwar, PhD Research Scholar from National Institute of Advanced Studies, Bengaluru on the topic “Ecological Restoration- A way for Biodiversity conservation.” It started out at 3p.m. and ended at 4:30 p.m. It was attended by over 100 participants from different parts of Assam who not only attended the session keenly but also actively participated during the interaction period with the resource persons. The webinar session was inaugurated by Budhin Dutta Sir, Vice Principal of Nanda Nath Saikia College who is also the Coordinator of Aryabhatta Science Centre, Titabor. The session was carried forward by Mitali Chetia, Assistant Professor, Zoology Department and Secretary, Zoological Society of Nanda Nath Saikia College. The welcome speech and vote of thanks were proposed by Dr. Manashi Bortamuly, HoD, Zoology and President of Zoological Society of Nanda Nath Saikia College. The technical aspects were taken care by Pranjal Bora, faculty, Computer Center and students Rishi Bawri and Surajit Borah all from N.N.Saikia College.
Plantation Drive: Students of Zoology Department decided to plant saplings within their own home campus with a pledge to take care of their striving as a mark of 2021 World Environment Day.
State Level Poster Competition: A state level prize money poster competition correlating with the theme “Ecosystem Restoration” was initiated on the 5th of June, 2021 by the Zoological Society of Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabor with the last date for submission being the 10th of June, 2021 and the result of which will be declared on the 15th of June, 2021.
