On the occasion of World Environment Day, an awareness programme was organised by the Physical Society and Department of Physics of Nanda Nath Saikia College on June 5, 2024. The programme was exercised as an extension activity at "Melamati Govt. Junior Basic School". Dr. Rajanish Saikia delivered an informative and student-friendly talk on the theme of World Environment Day 2024: “Our land, our future”. An art competition was also organised among the school students. All the students participated in the competition, and out of all, five students: Joyshree Das, Biraj Das, Md. Afraj Ali, Garima Nayak, and Bhargav Nayak, were awarded for their beautiful pictures. The Physical Society and Department of Physics gifted a few beneficial books to the school library, hoping that these books would enlighten the younger students. Before ending the programme, a tree was planted on the school boundary.
