We are pleased to share with you all that Dr. Pranaba Nanda Bhattacharyya, Assistant Professor and Head, Department of Botany, Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabor, Jorhat, Assam, has recently been elected as the prestigious "Fellow of The Royal Entomological Society (FRES) of United Kingdom. It is to be mentioned that this a very old and prestigious society of Scientists working in the area of "Pest Science and Research" over the last 192 years.
The Royal Entomological Society was formed in 1833 as the Entomological Society of London, UK. It was granted a Royal character in 1885 and officially became the Royal Entomological Society in 1933.
Earlier, in the last month, We proudly announced his recognition as the prestigious "Fellow of Linnean Society of London" (FLS) — one of the world’s oldest and most esteemed biological societies, established in 1788 by Sir James Edward Smith and named after the renowned Swedish naturalist Carl Linnaeus.
"FRES Fellowship" is a highly distinguished and Internationally recognized honour that recognizes significant contributions to those scientists/researchers, who have made a substantial contributions to Entomology Research through impactful publications, research or other solid evidences in the allied fields.
Dr. Bhattacharyya's research contribution in managing insect pest populations in Tea industry through Sustainable approaches has made this prestige possible.
The learned Society’s membership lists include some of the most influential figures in the history of biology, Internationally.
Fellows of the Society are entitled to use the post-nominal letters FRES and may receive prestigious medals and awards in recognition of outstanding contributions to plant protection.
This remarkable achievement by Dr. Bhattacharyya brings great pride to the academic community of India and stands as an inspiration to all who are devoted to the pursuit of excellence in Academic Research and Excellence.
