The Department of Political Science is one of the oldest and most prominent departments of Nanda Nath Saikia College. It was established at the very beginning of the college which was in the year 1959. Mr Natarajan was the first faculty of the Department then he was succeeded by Mr Kamini Ranjan Baruah. The Honours Course for Political Science was opened in 1976. Since that time, the department has been producing a good number of honours graduated students. The Department of Political has engaged itself with various academic and co-curricular activities for a long time and has definitely helped to nurture student personality development and contributed to society's welfare. The Department also has a society named Political Science Forum formed in 1973.
