Freshmen Social and Meeting of Zoological Society N. N. Saikia College

The Department of Zoology conducted a meeting on 17.08.2024 in the premises of the Department to welcome the new students of Zoology Major to the Department. Alongside, the Department conducted a meeting on the Zoological Society of the College, where in the activities of the previous year along with the budget used was discussed and elaborated by Secretary of the Zoological Society, Dr. Jafrin Farha Hussain. The overall aims and objectives including the rules and regulations of the Zoological Society were detailed by the President of Zoological Society, Dr. Manashi Bortamuly. The Secretary gave a detailed talk on the funds used, money collected and all activities undertaken during 2023-24. It was an auspicious day because on that day, decision was taken that the Zoological Society of NN Saikia College, will now work under the umbrella and aegis of Zoological Society of Assam.

The HoD, Mitali Chetia welcomed all the 1^st Semester students and requested them to maintain the decorum and name of the Department. Other faculty members also gave short speeches and welcomed all the new students to the Department. Several cultural programmes in the form of songs, dances and extempore, etc., were organized as part of the Freshmen Social. The annual Departmental Bulletin (July 2023 – June 2024) was also inaugurated on the day, and the inauguration was done by Vice Principal, Dr. Malakshmi Dutta. Approximately 85 students and 5 faculty members along with non-teaching staff Mr. Dipankar Gogoi participated in the said meeting and programme. Light refreshment was offered to all. The programme ended with a happy note from all. The meeting ended at about 4 pm.
