The International Day of Yoga was celebrated at the Nanda Nath Saikia College in association with NSS & NCC Units, and in collaboration with the Departments of Zoology, Education and Geography of the College. The programme was also collaborated with AMTRON. The programme was attended by faculty members of the college and students. The programme started with an inaugural lecture and lamp lighting ceremony by the Principal of the College, Dr. Suvangshu Dutta, and then Dr. Kamal Jyoti Gogoi, Chief Advisor, University Relations Cell, AMTRON, gave a brief idea about the importance of Yoga in daily life. Then, President of Teachers’ Unit, Dr. Jonali Saikia Borkakoty gave a welcome note to all present. After a short felicitation programme, the asanas were started. The session of yoga was carried out by Dr. Manashi Bortamuly, Secretary, Teachers' Unit. The entire programme was hosted by Dr. Jafrin Farha Hussain
Several asanas were practiced which included shoulder exercise, knee exercise, arm movement, hips exercise, butterfly yogasana, brikshasan, etc. The session was very relaxing and helpful. The message that was conveyed on International Day of Yoga was to practice yoga everyday for the benefit of the soul and mind.
After the yoga session, light refreshment was served to all those who were present.
