Awareness Programme on Cancer on World Cancer Day 2026

An awareness programme on cancer was conducted to commemorate World Cancer Day which was on 04.02.2026 but was organised at N. N. Saikia College premises on 25.02.2026. The programme was organised by the Red Ribbon Club of N. N. Saikia College in collaboration with IQAC, NSS Unit, Department of Zoology and Zoological Society (A unit of ZSA), N. N. Saikia College, Titabar. The programme was held in one of the classrooms of the college.

Nearly 70 students of the college were present during the programme. The programme was graced by the Vice Principal, where she distributed certificates to students who achieved ranking in certain competitions organised by the Red Ribbon Club. Dr. Manashi Bortamuly, convener of the Red Ribbon Club gave a detailed and informative talk on the various types of cancer, causes of cancer and how to prevent cancer. Rajib Das of the Department of History and co-convener of the Red Ribbon Club anchored the programme. Dr. Jafrin Farha Hussain, Secretary of Zoological Society, Dr. Kashmiri Baruah, member of Red Ribbon Club and Mr. Shahil Hussain of NSS Unit were also present at the programme. After a thorough interaction, the programme ended at 2 pm. Students were highly benefitted from the programme.
