The Department of Mathematics was started at Nanda Nath Saikia College, Titabar in the year 1970. Sri Anuj Kr. Phukan was the founder Head of the Department. Initially, the subject was taught in the intermediate level and in the year 1978, Dibrugarh University accorded affiliation to the department to teach Mathematics at Undergraduate level. From the session 1985-86 Honours Course in Mathematics was introduced under Dibrugarh University.
