The Department of Education, Nanda Nath Saikia College, organised a State Level Workshop on the topic “Research Methodology” at the Dr. J.K. Saikia Memorial Auditorium. The workshop was envisioned as a meaningful step towards nurturing research aptitude among students. It aimed to familiarise participants with the fundamental tools and techniques of research and to inspire them to think critically and scientifically about educational issues and social realities.
The event began with an atmosphere of enthusiasm and anticipation under the guidance of Dr. Monikha Saikia, Head of the Department of Education, accompanied by the dedicated faculty members of the department. The programme was smoothly anchored by Mrs. Himakshi Borah, whose confident presence and fluent coordination gave a graceful rhythm to the proceedings. The gathering was graced by the Principal of the College, Dr. Suvangshu Dutta, whose words of encouragement added depth to the occasion. In his address, Dr. Dutta spoke eloquently about the importance of research in higher education, describing it as the backbone of intellectual progress and innovation. He reminded the students that research is not merely a formal academic exercise but a lifelong process of questioning, discovering, and understanding the world around us. Through research, he said, we learn to think beyond the obvious, to find solutions, and to contribute meaningfully to society. Adding to the significance of the event, the Academic Vice Principal Science, Dr. Rajnish Saikia, conveyed his best wishes to the students and remarked that the topic of the workshop is highly relevant in today’s academic context.
After the inaugural remarks, the stage was handed over to the invited resource person, Dr. Jogesh Changmai, Assistant Professor, DCB Girls’ College. Dr. Changmai began his session with a clear explanation of what defines research and why it is indispensable in the field of education. Using a well-prepared PowerPoint presentation, he guided the audience through the various steps of research methodology, beginning from the identification of a problem to the final stage of data analysis and interpretation. His presentation was not confined to theoretical aspects alone; it also highlighted practical approaches, helping participants understand how research can be used to address real-life educational challenges.
The session was highly engaging and interactive, with students participating enthusiastically in discussions. Dr. Changmai’s approachable style, combined with his depth of knowledge, made the session both informative and inspiring. He patiently responded to queries and encouraged the learners to develop a curious and analytical mindset. Towards the end, he conducted a brief revision followed by a questionnaire round, during which students actively raised their queries, and Dr. Changmai patiently clarified each of them with clear and thoughtful explanations.
The workshop concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Mayuri Das, who expressed gratitude to the resource person for his insightful deliberations, to the Principal for his continuous support, and to all faculty members and students for making the event a success. She also acknowledged the leadership of Dr. Monikha Saikia and the collective effort of the Education Department for organising such an enriching academic event.

The Career Guidance and Skill Development Cell of N.N. Saikia College organised a special lecture programme titled “Gateway to Opportunities: Preparing for Competitive Examinations” on September 15, 2025, at the college campus. The event aimed to guide 5th-semester degree students towards effective preparation strategies for various competitive examinations and to motivate them to pursue career goals with clarity and confidence. Along with members of the cell, 58 students participated in the programme.The Career Guidance and Skill Development Cell of N.N. He emphasised the importance of such sessions in helping students identify their strengths, set realistic goals, and prepare systematically for government and other competitive examinations.Following this, Dr. Gautam Borah, Assistant Professor, Department of Assamese, explained the aim and objectives of the programme. He mentioned that the initiative was designed to equip students with knowledge about different career options, examination patterns, and preparation techniques, thereby creating awareness about the growing opportunities in various sectors.The keynote lecture was delivered by Mr. Kangkan Kishor Dutta, Assistant Accounts Officer, Office of the Executive Engineer, PWD (Roads), Jorhat. In his address, Mr. Dutta shared his valuable insights and personal experiences regarding the preparation for competitive examinations. He discussed strategies for time management, syllabus planning, and maintaining motivation throughout the preparation period. He also stressed the importance of consistency, hard work, and self-belief in achieving success.The session concluded with an interactive question-and-answer segment, during which students actively participated and sought guidance from the resource person. The event proved to be highly informative and inspiring for all attendees.The programme ended with a vote of thanks to the resource person, faculty members, and students for their enthusiastic participation, marking the event as a successful and enriching experience for the college community.
