The Department of Zoology, N. N. Saikia College conducted a meeting of all the alumni of the Department, on 13.03.2023 at 7 PM. The inaugural speech was given by Dr. Manashi Bortamuly, HoD; wherein she welcomed all the participants. After that discussions on upcoming NAAC visit to the college was discussed. She stated that the team shall visit during the first week of April, or during the last week of April, 2023.Various matters related to development of the Department were discussed.

Alumnus of the Department, Mr. Abhijeet Konwar mentioned that the students and faculties of the Department can take up small research projects to create a temperament of research among the undergraduate students. A poster of butterfly research, for decorating the Department premises was also discussed. Mr. Bedanta Saikia, also an alumnus of the Department stated about the unspent fund in the schools that are sanctioned in the name of Eco-club.

Several alumni expressed their desire for workshop related events in the Department, beautification of the Department and collaborative work from the Department. Prospects of career after pursuing degree in Zoology should also be displayed in the form of a poster, stated by one of the alumni.

After the discussion, some of the alumni expressed their desire to meet physically, rather online. The programme ended with a happy note to all the alumni and faculty.

Celebration of World Wildlife Day 2023

Place: Lab 1 of Department of Zoology

The Department of Zoology, N. N. Saikia College celebrated the World Wildlife Day on 3^rd March, 2023 inside the Department Premises. The programme started at 2 PM, after the completion of the regular semester classes, in the Lab 1 of Zoology Department in presence of all the students and faculty members of the Department. About 42 students were present in the programme. The programme was inaugurated and carried forward by the HoD, Dr. Manashi Bortamuly. She gave a brief presentation on the different wildlife species that have been encountered during the various field trips conducted by the Department. The audio-visual talk on wildlife created a feeling of zest and zeal among the students.

After the presentation, a group photo was captured. Students from 2^nd Semester and 6^th Semester and few students from 4^th Semester were present. The programme ended with a happy note to all the students.
